Di dalam direct and indirect speech, pada kalimat imperative atau kalimat perintah terdapat beberapa aturan yang berbeda dengan direct and indirect speech dalam bentuk statement (penyataan) Adapun untuk kalimat imperative pada indirect speech sub clausenya tidak mengalami perubahan tenses, walaupun main clausenya menggunakan Tenses Simple Past Tense, Perubahan dari Direct speech menjadi indirect speech hanya terjadi pada Pronoun (kata ganti) dan Adverb (kata keterangan) sedangkan kata Say berubahan menjadi Advise, Command, invite, Recommend, Ask, Encourage, Tell, Forbid, Beg, Entreat, Urge, Remind, Order, Implore, Request. Warn.
Advise artinya Meminta, menasehati, Command artinya Menyuruh. Forbide artinya melarang.
Ask artinya meminta atay bertanya, Request artinya meminta, Tell artinya meminta
Beg artinya memohon. Implore artinya memohon, Order artinya meminta

2 Jenis imperative sentence, imperative sentence atau kalimat perintah dibagi menjadi dua, yakni imperative positive dan imperative negatif.
1.) Imperative positive atau kalimat perintah positif
Di dalam indirect speech menggunakan rumus
Direct Speech : Subject + verb + “Verb 1 + !”
Indirect Speech : Subject + verb + to +Verb 1
Contoh Direct Speech : Tania said to Tamara,”Open it”.
Indirect Speech : Tania asked Tamara to open it.
2.) Imperative negatif atau kalimat larangan
Di dalam indirect speech pada imperative negatif menggunakan rumus
Direct Speech : Subject + Verb + “ Don’t + V1 + !”
Indirect Speech : Subject + Verb not + to + V1
Contoh Direct Speech : Abdillah said to Abdullah,”Don’t leave me!”
Indirect Speech : Abdillah asked John not to leave him.
