(9) اَمۡ حَسِبۡتَ اَنَّ اَصۡحٰبَ الۡـكَهۡفِ وَالرَّقِيۡمِۙ كَانُوۡا مِنۡ اٰيٰتِنَا عَجَبًا
Latin Inscription : am khasibta anna ashkhaabal kahfi war roqimi kanuu min aayaatina ‘ajaban
Translation from sahih international : Or have you thought that the companions of the cave and the inscription were, among Our signs, a wonder? (Al Qur’an Surah Al Kahf verse 9)
Tafseer Al Qur’an Surah Al Kahf Verse 9 According to the book Tafsir Jalalain
اَمْ حَسِبْتَ (Or have you thought) you think – اَنَّ اَصۡحٰبَ الۡـكَهۡفِ (that ashabul kahf) people who live in a cave on a hill – وَالرَّقِيۡمِ (and the inscription) are stone tablets with their names and lineages written on them; The Prophet SAW, was once asked about their story – كَانُوْا (were) in their story- مِنْ (among) Some – ايتِنَا عَجَبًا (Our signs, a wonder?) lafadz ‘ajab became his khobar kana, while the lafadz which was previously in position became hal, meaning they are amazing things that are different from our other signs of power, or they are the most amazing signs of our power, when in reality that is not the case.
