On December 5, 2023, the Kediri City Department of Trade and Industry (Disperdagin) held re-measurement activities at several Kediri City gas stations and markets. The re-measurement activity aims to protect consumers who shop at the market from trade injustice, Re-measuring will make people feel calmer and more confident in buying products sold by traders because of clarity in terms of measurements.
The activity process begins by setting up a re-measurement station in the middle of the Pahing market which is located close to the prayer room, then inviting buyers who shop at the market to test the measurements of the goods they buy to see whether they comply with existing standards or not. The results of the re-measuring post activity at the Pahing market showed that the goods purchased on scales at the market were by the weight written on the measuring post.
Consumers who are aware of this activity should voluntarily weigh their purchases. This activity does not cost anything or is free, because it uses the state budget. Knowing that the legal basis for re-measurement activities in the market is Republic of Indonesia Law No. 2 of 1981 concerning legal metrology, it is hoped that re-measurement activities can provide added value in supporting the strengthening of the community’s economy, as well as improving the image and competitiveness of traditional markets, especially in terms of truth.
