What are the 8 types of eye disorders (diseases) and their explanations?
The following are 8 types of eye disorders (diseases), namely myopia (farsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), presbyopia, squint, color blindness, cataracts, astigmatism, and hemeralopia.
The explanation is as follows:
- Squint is an eye disorder caused by a mismatch in the eye muscles. Squint can be cured with surgery.
- Color blindness is an eye defect (disorder) that is genetic (hereditary). People with color blindness are unable to distinguish certain colors, red, green, or blue. Color blindness cannot be corrected or cured.
- A cataract is an eye defect caused by calcification of the lens of the eye so that the eye lens becomes blurry and accommodation capacity is reduced.
- Hemeralopia (night blindness) is an eye disorder caused by vitamin A deficiency.
- Astigmatism is an eye defect caused by uneven convexity of the cornea so that incoming parallel rays cannot be focused at one point.
- Presbyopic eyes, presbyopic eyes are caused by the lens of the eye being too flat so that the eye’s accommodation power is weak and cannot be focused on one point.
- Hyperopia is an eye defect caused by the lens of the eye being too flat so that the image falls behind the yellow spot. Hyperopia is also called nearsightedness because people with hyperopia are only able to see clearly at long distances. To help people with hyperopia, glasses with convex (positive) lenses can be used.
- Myopia, myopia is an eye defect caused by the lens of the eye being too convex so that the image falls in front of the yellow spot. Myopia is also called nearsightedness because it cannot see objects at a long distance. To help myopia sufferers, glasses with concave (negative) lenses can be used.
