What is the function of the eustachian tube and auditory ossicles in the middle ear?
The function of the eustachian tube is to reduce the air pressure in the middle ear so that the air pressure outside and inside is the same. This pressure balance functions to keep the eardrum from being damaged. This channel will be closed under normal circumstances and will open if we swallow something.
The auditory ossicles function to transmit and amplify vibrations to the inner ear. There are three auditory ossicles, namely the hammer bone, anvil bone, and stirrup bone, the bones in the ear canal connect the eardrum and oval window.
