What are the five diseases of the human ear?
The following are five diseases (disorders) of the human ear:
- Damage to hearing receptors in the inner ear due to hearing very loud sounds.
- Presbycusis is damage to nerve cells in the ear caused by old age.
- Otosclerosis is a disorder of the stirrup bones characterized by tinnitus (ringing in the ears) when you are young.
- Infection of the ear due to a disease entering the ear. Ears that are already very badly infected usually produce pus.
- A buildup of dirt that blocks sound vibrations from entering the eardrum.
