In the Islamic religion, there are 6 pillars of faith or arkan al Islam, namely faith in God, faith in God’s angels, faith in God’s books, faith in God’s messengers, faith in the Day of Judgment, and faith in good and bad decisions.
As written in the Koran, Surah An-Nisa Verse 136 :
Latin writing: yaa ayyuhal ladzina aamanuu aaminuu billahi wa rosulihi wal kitaabil ladzii nazzala ‘ala rosulihi wal kitaabil ladzi anzala min qoblu wa man yakfur billahi wa malaa ikatihi wa karetihi wa rusulihi wal yaumil aakhiri faqod dholla dholalan ba’idan
Its translation : O believers! Have faith in Allah, His Messenger, the Book He has revealed to His Messenger, and the Scriptures He revealed before. Indeed, whoever denies Allah, His angels, His Books, His messengers, and the Last Day has clearly gone far astray. (An Nisa verse 136)
As written in the hadith of the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasallam which was narrated by Muslim
Latin writing: al iimana an tu’mina billahi wa malaa ikatihi wa poleihi wa rusulihi waly aumil aakhri wa tu’mina bil qodri khoirihi wa syarrihi minalllahi
Its translation: Faith is that you should believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and you believe in his decision, the good and the bad from Allah SWT. (narrated by Muslim)
The explanation of the six pillars of faith or arkan al Islam is as follows:
Explanation of Faith in Allah
When we see the wind blowing, when we see the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, when we see the rain falling, it is all said that there is a substance that controls it. This substance is a substance that we as ordinary humans cannot see, the essence that controls East and West, that essence is Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. Faith in Allah is one of the first pillars of faith in the religion of Islam. Believing in it is an obligation for every Muslim. If a Muslim does not believe in Allah, then his faith is forfeited.
Explanation of Faith in God’s Angels
We must believe in believing that Allah created a creature called an angel, angels were created by Allah from light or nur, Nur means light in Arabic, and angels are the creatures who are most obedient to Allah’s orders. Angels are neither men nor women, they do not have lust and never disobey Allah.
Here are 10 of God’s angels that we must believe in or believe in
- Angel Jibrill
- Angel Mikail
- Angel Isrofil
- Angel Izroil
- Angel Roqib
- Angel Atid
- Angel Munkar
- Angel Nakir
- Angel Malik
- Angel Ridwan
Explanation of Faith in Allah’s books or Kitabullah
Humans living in the world need a true and absolute guide to life, a true and absolute guide to life that Allah has entrusted to his messengers or prophets, there are four books of Allah that every Muslim must believe in, namely:
- Belief in the Book of the Taurot which was revealed to the prophet Musa alaihis salam
- Belief in the book of Zabur which was revealed to the prophet David alaihis salam
- Belief in the book of the Bible which was revealed to the prophet Isa alaihis salam and
- Faith in the Qur’an which was revealed to the prophet Muhammad SAW
Allah SWT has sent down the holy book through his prophet and Allah will also protect the authenticity of the holy book until the Day of Judgment as written in the letter as follows
اِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَاِنَّا لَهٗ لَحٰفِظُوْنَ (9)
Latin writing: inna nahnu nazzalnadz dzikro wa inna lahu lahaafdizuna
Meaning: Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an, and We (also) certainly preserve it. (Al Hijr Verse 9)
