The following is an example of a dialogue (conversation) between a seller and a buyer at a clothing store, where a woman named Fatimah wants to buy jackets and raincoats at the Annisa Clothing Store.
A young woman wearing a hijab was looking at the collection of clothes in the Annisa Clothing Store, suddenly she was shocked when a shopkeeper reprimanded her.
Shop Keeper: “Good afternoon Sis, can I help you?”
Fatimah: “Yes sis, I want to find a jacket and raincoat for my size.”
Shopkeeper: “OK, the jackets are in the east aisle while the raincoats are in the front of the shop”
The young woman walked towards the east aisle of the shop, while the shopkeeper followed behind her.
Fatimah: “Excuse me, sis, I want to see the jacket, Sis, how much is the black California jacket?”
Shopkeeper: “This costs 15 US Dollars, so you get a 50 percent discount from the price stated on the jacket.”
Fatimah: “Can I try on the jacket, sis?”
Shopkeeper: “Yes, If you want to try this jacket, you can go to the locker room, go there.”
After trying it on, Fatimah felt that the jacket was suitable for her body size, She gave it over to the shopkeeper to put it at the cashier. Then She headed to the front of the store to find a raincoat.
Fatimah: “I’m sorry sis, is this poncho raincoat waterproof?”
Shopkeeper: “Yes, this raincoat is waterproof and made of PVC, so it’s easy to store in the trunk of a vehicle. PVC raincoats have good elasticity.”
Fatimah: “Great explanation is, how much is the jacket?”
Shop Keeper: ”5 US Dollars,- per piece”
Fatimah: “Can I negotiate, sis? because I already bought a jacket too.”
Shopkeeper: “I’m sorry miss, the goods in our shop are sold at fixed prices. So no haggling.”
Fatimah: “Okay, I’ll take one jacket too.”
The shopkeeper then took the Poncho jacket to the cashier.
Shopkeeper: “Total 20 US Dollars, one California jacket and one poncho raincoat.”
Fatimah: “Is it possible to pay with a debit card?”
Shopkeeper: “Yes it is possible, our shop serves cash or non-cash payments.”
